A summer internship led to the start of my career at Signet. My internship was going well and when I was offered a position as a Junior Creative Artworker in the Design Studio I jumped at the chance. After a year I progressed to the role of Creative Artworker and just two months later I became a Designer.
Gaining a role at Signet has provided me with invaluable experience. There’s plenty to learn and I’ve made the most of every opportunity; from using new software, to learning about processes such as the printing of a catalogue. I now have a thorough understanding of all of the design elements which contribute towards making a brand successful, including catalogues, press adverts, website design, in-store POS (point of sale display materials) and direct mail.
I’ve been involved in lots of exciting projects, but I was especially proud of my work on the branding for Emmy London, an exclusive new luxury bridal brand for H.Samuel. I worked with Emmy and the marketing team from concept through to completion, and helped create artwork which not only answered Emmy’s brief, but also suited H.Samuel. I enjoy creating concepts, and it was rewarding to see the branding develop through to the final design.
The sociable, friendly team is one of the best parts of working for Signet. We all get on very well and support each other. We play music in the studio and each have a day assigned to us to create a playlist. And, importantly, I’m allowed to have my Lego figures out on display on my desk. Little things that make a big difference.”
