The Buying & Merchandising Academy
Signet’s Buying & Merchandising Academy (the Academy) is our in-house development programme designed to ensure each and every one of our Buying & Merchandising team can perform at their very best and work towards meeting their career goals.
Created specifically for the unique demands of first-class jewellery retail, the Academy is structured, practical, robust, relevant and rewarding.
Focused on developing technical knowledge, personal effectiveness, commercial acumen and management capability, there’s a clear competency framework which ensures that for every role there are development goals which are timely and relevant.
You’re in control – when you’re ready you request a sign off meeting with your manager to discuss your development and competency. This means you develop and progress at your own pace using on-the-job training, workshops, tests and quizzes and even external training. You’re not expected to demonstrate what brilliant management skills you have on day one, but there’s every opportunity and encouragement to do so once you reach the appropriate level.
And, as we take career development seriously, for every stage that’s signed off, there are associated pay rises to reward the increased contribution you make with increased capability. When the opportunity arises, if you’ve completed the relevant development levels you can apply for the next step on the career ladder. So it’s not just a pretty piece of paper or a tick box exercise.
