I’ve been working for Signet for more than seven and a half years – and I can’t see myself leaving. I really enjoy working with my team and meeting customers. We have lots of regulars who we’ve built up a lovely relationship with over the years. They’ve become like friends to us.
All of our products are special to sell, but I like the diamonds best. When you see a customer buying an engagement ring or present, you can’t help but get a bit excited for them! Being able to help people is really rewarding too. One day, a lady brought a ring into our store, which she’d bought from elsewhere. She was really upset because the stone had fallen out and she wanted to wear it on a holiday she was taking to celebrate her anniversary. However, I tracked down a similar one for her and managed to get it to her on time.
I think Signet moves with the times, so there’s lots of job security and opportunities to progress. They have great training and conferences too. Actually, at my first managers’ conference, I didn’t just learn lots – I also won a diamond necklace worth £2,000 in a raffle! Another great thing about Signet is that they have a personal touch. Last month, we got a handwritten thank you note from our area manager for beating targets, which was lovely.
I’m the first point of contact for stores and Area Managers with HR issues. It’s fantastic because no two days are the same and there are always lots of different queries to answer. I really like being able to help people – it’s so rewarding!
Signet is a great company to work for. They offer really good benefits, like brilliant discounts, and the training is excellent too, especially the workshops. We have lots of them and they’re really helpful. Most of all though, I love the people I work with – everyone is so friendly!
I’ve already been working with Signet for three years, but I’d like to stay here longer and gainstart my CIPD qualification. I’m already working towards an MA in Human Resources with their support.
This is the department where everything is tubbed up and dispatched to our stores. It’s a lively, fast-moving place where all the action happens! I lead the team here, which varies in size from about 10 to nearer 20 at Christmas. There are different people working with me every day, so there’s lots of variety!
As a manager, I like to get the best out of people. So, even though my team changes a lot, we all get on and work really well together. I think Signet is a good company to work for. There’s a nice atmosphere here and the on-the-job training is fairly good.
I’ve been here for eight years now; I started as a picker and worked my way up. I’m not sure about my future yet - I might try something different altogether. But at the moment, I’m happy to stay here and keep developing my skills.
I joined Signet as a Christmas temp last year. Before that, I used to work in a menswear shop. This is quite similar, as you have to tap into what customers like and don’t like. But our products are much more special, especially our watches. I like the Rado and Tag Heuer ones best.
It’s great to work with wonderful products and help people pick out lovely things. Every now and again, we get men coming in looking for engagement rings, so they can surprise their girlfriends, which is always nice. One man who bought one was planning a secret proposal on top of the Eiffel Tower. It was six months ago and he hasn’t been back, so I can only assume she said yes!
If you haven’t worked with jewellery before, I’d certainly recommend it - it’s great to learn more about something people wear every day. Signet is an excellent company to work for too. The benefits are wonderful, and the discount is great! The training encourages people to stay on and progress, so I think I’ll have a good future here.
I’ve been working in the Studio for about a year now, designing promotional materials for H.Samuel, Ernest Jones and Leslie Davis. I work on a range of different things, from web banners to POS materials for stores. So there’s lots of variety. I find the POS work especially rewarding. Sometimes I’ll walk past a store and a poster or something will catch my eye. Then I realise I designed it!
I used to be an Artworker for a local printer, but I prefer working with the big brands we have at Signet - they’re really impressive! I work with a great team and there are some great perks, like staff discount. I usually use it to buy presents for my girlfriend. She loves her birthstone, so I’m always buying her pendants!
If you’re thinking of joining Signet, you should come and give it your best shot. I’d definitely recommend working here. I want to stay for a while, develop my skills further and just see how far I can go.
I make sure jewellery is displayed in a way that looks good and is easy to find. It’s really rewarding, especially when you see customers look in your windows or when you get the sales figures through to show that your displays are working.
Having a successful jewellery launch is really satisfying too. We have around seven different launches every year, which could be anything from diamonds to wedding rings. We try to vary the type of launches we each work on, which gives us a bit of variety and helps us improve our skills.
I’m really happy here – there’s great benefits and progression. I think there’s lots of scope for visual merchandising to develop throughout the business too. It’s still a relatively new area and we’re always experimenting with new layouts. So I’d like to stay here for a while and help my department grow.
I joined Signet about five years ago, but this is a relatively new role for me. Basically, I assist the Reporting Accountant by getting figures together and preparing management accounts. I have lots of different month-end tasks, so my weeks have lots of variety.
I’d definitely recommend joining Signet. I used to work for another retailer, but it’s much more supportive here. The benefits and training are also good. We do a lot of online learning – I did some Excel courses recently and they were excellent!
I’ve joined H.Samuel as a Christmas temp a couple of years ago and haven’t looked back! On an average day, I’ll serve customers and repair watches and jewellery. We have a few regular customers who work in the local area, but most of them are tourists. It’s great - I like seeing different faces all the time!
One of my most memorable sales has to be when a guy bought a ring worth £5,000 from me. It made me feel so good! I enjoy selling engagement rings too, especially when couples tell you how happy they are. But helping customers isn’t the only good thing about working here. I love the people too – they make it a really nice place to be!
H.Samuel is a great place to work. Signet offers great benefits and commission, so it’s really rewarding. Plus, the training and progression opportunities are great. I want to become a supervisor soon and I know they’ll give me all the support I need to get there.
I was in the military for a decade, so I moved into security because it was similar. I joined Signet five months ago, but before that I was working in specialist computer holdings. It’s much more enjoyable here. There’s much more variety!
Being in security here is great – we’re one of the only departments that see people from all over the business every day. I know people from most departments, lots of them by first name. We’re also one of the only departments that has access to all areas of the building, so I get to work in lots of different places with lots of different people!
I’d definitely recommend Signet – it’s a pleasure to work here. I feel like I’m constantly learning new things, especially because we do so much training and get to take part in so many practice exercises.
I started working at Signet 24 years ago as an Assistant Manager in one of our stores. Now I’m an Area Manager looking after more than 17! It just goes to show how fantastic the progression and opportunities are here. I never thought I’d get this far.
I really enjoy visiting different stores as an Area Manager. It’s great to see so many different retail environments, particularly as each one has its own unique challenge. New stores are especially exciting – there’s always a real buzz about them!
I’m happy working as an Area Manager and can’t see myself moving up to a Head Office role at the moment – I like getting out and visiting different people and places too much!
When I joined Signet eight years ago, I worked in recalls and admin. Then I did a diamond grading course in Hockley for a few months, got the qualification I needed and moved into Quality Control.
There are eight of us here, and we work with diamonds when they arrive in the stockroom. We’re basically checking to see that the diamonds are actually diamonds, and that they’re the right grade. So you need to be very precise and have a good eye for detail!
I enjoy my job. Everyone is really friendly and there are lots of opportunities to move around and try new things. In the future, I want to keep working with diamonds and just see where they take me!
I’ve been working at Signet for more than 40 years! I started at 16 in an Ernest Jones store and I worked my way up to management there. When my store had a new type of window fitted, we had to change the way we did displays and I showed a real flair for it. So my bosses let me come to Head Office for a secondment and I’ve been here for more than eight years now!
I’m a Visual Merchandiser working for Ernest Jones, and I have a lot of freedom and scope to make an impact. It’s my job to plan displays and put my plans into a usable format that can be sent out to stores. I often visit stores and help them with their windows too. I’m going to a store in the West End tomorrow!
Having worked in stores and at Head Office, I feel like I know both sides of the business. And to be honest, everything is great! The training is fantastic – I’ve really progressed in the last ten years. I’ll probably stay here until I retire now.
I came to Signet more than four years ago as a Christmas temp. I was actually an Assistant Manager at a card shop when I joined, but I decided to take a step back to come here because I knew I would benefit in the long run. Now I help keep the whole shop running smoothly, as well as make sure our customers and colleagues are happy!
Selling our products is much better than selling cards – they’re far more special. Sometimes we get to be part of some fantastic stories too. I remember one man coming in to buy an eternity ring for his girlfriend when their first child was born. Then the other day, he came back for an engagement ring.
I’m really happy with Signet. They’re a really nice company to work for, with far superior rewards, recognition and training than other retailers. Working for such a well respected, household brand is great too – I’d definitely recommend joining the team and developing a long-term career here!
I started working at H.Samuel as a Christmas temp when I was at university, then I worked my way up to Assistant Manager at Ernest Jones. I want to manage my own store next, and I’m working closely with the Store Manager Development Co-ordinator to help make that happen. That’s one of the best things about Signet - they’re really good at spotting potential, developing you and moving you forward.
The people are great too. I love managing my team and helping customers find beautiful pieces. One time, a lady came to one of our design days with some diamonds made out of her Mum’s ashes. She wanted them turned into something special, so our designers incorporated them into a pendant and earring set. When she came to pick them up, she was absolutely overjoyed - it was an emotional moment for everyone!
I’ve been really impressed with Signet; I really enjoy working for them and would recommend them to anyone. If you take advantage of all the training and opportunities that are available, you can go far here!
I’ve been working at H.Samuel for nine years on and off. I’ve worked in 10 to 15 different branches during my career, but this is my favourite. It’s really busy, so it feels like it’s all happening here – Christmas is absolutely mad!
Our store attracts many tourists and they spend a lot! They often buy our collectables, particularly Lilliput Lane, because they’re cheaper in the UK than overseas. Sometimes they come in with a huge list of the ones they don’t have and we help them find them! There are lots of people making romantic purchases too. People often come back and thank us when we’ve sold them a wedding band or engagement ring. Once, a gentleman came in to buy a plain band, and I convinced him to buy a beautiful diamond as a kind of two-in-one wedding and engagement ring instead. His fiancée was very happy!
Signet is an excellent company to work for – the training is good and the products are amazing, especially our Forever Diamonds and Seiko and Citizen watches. I love the way they’re so special to people - it’s great to make our customers happy! I plan to stay here for a few years and hopefully become an Assistant Manager before too long.
I’ve started working at Leslie Davis as a Christmas temp three years ago and I really enjoy it. There’s a brilliant, relaxed atmosphere, my colleagues are great and the diamonds are wonderful, particularly the Leos – they’re beautiful.
I love being part of our customers’ special moments. There was one man, who was going to take his girlfriend to TGI Fridays, then stand on top of the table and propose to her. But we gently persuaded him to do something a bit more romantic. We told him to go to the florist near our store and buy her some flowers, then have a romantic night in. He took our advice and the next day his new fiancée came into the store to say thanks.
I’d tell anyone thinking of joining our team to go for it! The training and development opportunities are excellent – I hope to become an Assistant Manager soon, and I’m about to go on a diamond course with the International Gemological Institute.
I used to be a PA for a high-flying executive in the city, but I gave it up to have children. When they grew up, I realised coffee mornings weren’t for me and that I needed something to do. So I came in and spoke to the Manager, who decided to take a chance on me - even though I had no retail experience. That was 15 years ago and I’m still enjoying it. I work with a lovely group of girls and we all get on so well. Even though I’m a bit older than them, they make me feel really included.
I adore working with such tempting products, especially diamonds – they’re my passion. I also love being part of wonderful stories. There have been so many over the years - some happy, some sad. Once a lady came in who had just lost her husband. Before he died, he’d promised to buy her an eternity ring. So she came in and bought one for herself. We became quite good friends after that. I also have a customer who has bought three or four Rolexes from me. He’s just been in for a new one to commemorate the birth of his new baby.
I can’t recommend working here highly enough. We have a fantastic manager, great benefits and there’s a lovely atmosphere. As well as having lots of fun, we all work together to get the job done. It’s fantastic.
My story with Signet began in 1995. Just a temporary role, taking calls from Stores, resolving issues and eventually moving in to a permanent role with other teams learning about jewellery and helping with special purchases.
What makes this job unique is just how you see your work can lead to so many special memories. Take for example a request from a customer who wanted limited edition crystal pieces as wedding favours. Because they were such a limited issue we couldn't obtain the 25 he wanted - but I suggested that a miniature version of the same piece which was available in much larger quantities. He was thrilled and so were his guests.
This is the kind of thing that can happen everyday with Signet. The variety, involvement and opportunities just can't be found anywhere else!
This is only my second week at Head Office, but I’ve been working for Signet since I was 17. I started off working one day a week at an Ernest Jones store then I saw this on the Intranet and decided to apply. My degree was in business and I’d always been interested in buying and merchandising, so it was perfect!
Transferring to Head Office was easy and it was great to meet people I’d spoken to while I was working in my store. These days, I still get to learn about our products, but I also work closely with the buyers and deal with lots of figures. I feel like I can really make a difference and get stuff done.
I’d definitely recommend Signet as an employer. In fact, I’ve already suggested that some of my friends join as Christmas Sales Associates. After all, you never know where it can end up! Although I’ve not been here long, I’d like to stay for a while and see how far I can progress.
I started working at Signet six years ago as a Store Manager. But I’ve been in retail since school and I wanted a bit of a career change, so I decided to move to Head Office.
Because Signet is an American-owned company, we have to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which is intended to reduce financial risk. It’s my job to make sure everything we do is compliant. So I have to compliance test controls, put new financial controls in place and attend meetings about any changes that may affect our compliance. I’ve only been in this particular role for about six months, but I really enjoy it. It’s varied, challenging and new!
I worked for another retailer for 20 years before I joined Signet, but it’s much more customer-focused here. The training, benefits and opportunities to progress are also fantastic – they’re part of the reason I’ve stayed here so long!
I used to be a salesman, but I hated it and decided to look for a new career. I temped for a while to find areas that interested me and I ended up here! I worked here as a temp for about a year and then I was taken on permanently.
Our IT Department manages IT for our Head Offices and retail stores, so it’s really important. I manage IT projects rather than the day-to-day stuff, which means my people skills are much more important than my technical expertise. I really enjoy it, especially as I get to work with such good people.
I’ve had a great experience at Signet so far. The benefits are excellent and there are lots of fantastic training programmes available. I’d like to stay in my current role for a while and eventually move into project management. I hope I’m able to do that here!
I’ve been working in this store for two years, but I’ve been with Signet for more than a decade. I really love the team here – we’re like a family, and it’s great to work with such fabulous products every day. We get really excited whenever there’s a new delivery.
Customers tend to visit us to buy something specific, like an eternity ring, but many then become regulars because of the great service we give them. So someone might buy an engagement ring from us, then come back for the wedding jewellery! We have some lovely regulars who are always popping in to say hello – one couple invited me to their wedding and another asked whether we’d like to go to a barbeque at their home. It’s so nice!
I really enjoy working for Signet. They’ve treated me really well over the years, and they offer some great benefits and incentives. The training and development is fantastic too. So if you want for a career in retail, I would definitely recommend joining the team.
